This website is a Test Site where we will freely experiment and play with the idea of Active Philanthropy through the sharing of our stories on the web and on mobile devices.

Mobile Movement will work with 20 Test Users (colleagues, friends and allies) and connect them to the youth participating in UN HABITAT´s Urban Entrepreneurship Program (UEP). Over one month, we will explore with our test users meaningful ways to contribute to the youth groups and observe the interaction between participants -- evaluating the applied technology. In April, 2009, we will launch the final Mobile Movement website based on these findings, so stay tuned!

UN-HABITAT´s "Urban Entrepreneurship Program" trains young entrepreneurs in informal settlements in Nairobi, Kenya and encourages the development of socially responsible small businesses.

Environmental Youth Alliance and UN HABITAT will manage and administer funds raised on behalf of youth participating in the Urban Entrepreneurship Program. 96% of proceeds will go directly to the youth. 4% will be reserved to administer the fund. If you have any questions, please contact us (jessyfraser@mac.com)

We are interested in helping young professionals see what they can contribute, and how important their contributions are financially, socially and arguably even spiritually. We really do want to create a movement, where philanthropy feels accessible, powerful and personally meaningful. We are calling this emergent model "Active Philanthropy".
