- Name: Vision Development Self Help Group Vision
- City: NAIROBI
- Profession: YOUTH GROUP
- Development Interests: Vision Development Self Help Group.Working in the Ngara district of Nairobi, Vision Development is a group of fifty (50) youth aged 16 – 33. The group evolved out of an existing Church youth group and registered officially in early 2007. From inception, they have worked collaboratively with a variety of other such groups operating in the same region to provide support, counseling, education, training and social services ranging from HIV/AIDS prevention and management to waste collection and recycling to employment counseling to their peers in the community. Their main income-generating activity is waste-collection, and they have successfully promoted their services through outreach activities such as organizing cleanups of public areas and distributing leaflets advertising their services. Their major challenges have been raising sufficient capital to purchase adequate tools and supplies to use in their cleanups and waste collection projects, so they have been unable to expand at the rate the would like to be growing. The funds that they have raised through their income generating activities have been used in a merry-go-round system of loans to group members, as well as to aid group and wider community members during times of extreme hardship and dire need
