Jewelry Designer Answers Call to Action This is some of Olia's jewelry designs

NYC Jewelry Designer to work with Victorious Olia Gitman, a New York city jewelry designer, is going to do some work with Victorious ? bone craft designers from the Kibera slum.

I am a jewelry designer so this work is close to my heart. Being in the US, most designers are using already made materials and not creating their own, so its exciting to see the making of the beads by hand. I also want to do my best to help raise the conditions of this group. They are working hard and creating beautiful work and if I can help in any way using my own expertise, it would be great.

I love the idea of Mobile Movement. Its a great way of connecting people based on their expertise. Its the saying "Give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he will eat for a lifetime". Its ambitious that my designs can feed any man for a lifetime but its still the idea of giving something that can possibly provide a form of a repeating income. The thing I am giving is also coming from my own creativity so that is a far more exciting gift to me to give then a donation.

Giving anything always makes me feel great. Being involved and connected so closely to a people who were so removed from me is a nice feeling too. It feels direct and hands on what you guys are doing. Its a great way to connect the world. It is empowering that individuals can help through using their expertise to give advice and ideas. Ideas are more powerful then money.

I hope this helps the world become smaller and smaller so that it is easier for us to help one another.
