Its 24 members reside in the Mathare slum area of Nairobi and have been operating for four years. Initially, they did cleanup and garbage collection services to improve the environmental health of their community, but has expanded its activities to include outreach and education on issues facing youth such as drug use, crime and HIV/AIDS. Their outreach activities include the showing of educational and entertaining films, provision of condoms to minimize harm from risky behaviours, interactive learning through songs, poem and drama, publicity campaigns through posters and flyers, and engaging youth directly in sport and clean-up programmes.
